Brigitte Borchhardt-Birbaumer (category daily newspaper) and Matthias Dusini (category weekly- and artmagazines) were awarded the prize for art criticism in Austria by the end of April 2007, Martin Prinzhorn held the honorific speech. Der Junior Award winner was Rolf Wienkötter, who could already publish his first reviews in the cooperating art magazines!
A reader, the "ACA Lesebuch", has been published by the basis wien. It is based on frieze No.100, dealing with art criticism, its texts have been translated into German language. More...!

NEW AUSTRIAN PRIZE FOR ART CRITICISM!
Starting with 2007 the Kunstwerft and the basis wien bestow the biennial Art Critics Award, the only prize for art criticism in Austria. The focus is on awarding a cash prize to a single art critic who showed outstanding achievements in his field. Additionally, a sponsorship prize is awarded to an aspiring critic, who has not yet published his texts.
In a reversal of roles the jury consists of visual artists who judge and select the critics.
